Course Outline
Trainers are often required to design training programmes for their organisation without any formal or informal knowledge of the systematic process of training design. Designing training is not a simple process! The end product may appear to be well structured and effective, but when it is delivered, the design can seem flawed. The consideration of key design factors such as learning styles, learners’ motivation, different methodologies, can make all the difference to the success or failure of a training intervention. A small investment in this 2-day event provides the key to developing a credible and confident professional training design team.
The aim of the course is to develop an understanding of how people learn and how their preferred learning styles will influence the design of training using different approaches. The key factors that we cover (learning objectives, the learning cycle, motivation etc) are all related to practical examples so that their value can be clearly seen.
Who should attend?
This course is essential for all training specialists who are responsible for designing effective training programmes to enable employees to acquire knowledge or develop a skill.
How delegates will benefit
An experienced consultant, specialising in this subject, will lead this event and provide you with a firm foundation upon which to create innovative and pertinent training programmes. During this course, you will be able to build on your knowledge and develop your skills to be better able to: -
Explain how and why people learn and how this is useful in the design process
Describe the various key factors that need to be considered when establishing learning requirements
Describe the fundamental distinction between trainer-centred and learner-centred approach to training design
Build a basic design framework
Construct clear learning objectives
Select appropriate training methods for use in learning experiences
Describe the main uses of a range of trainer aids and materials, their strengths and weaknesses, and some of the key principles in their design
Develop criteria for evaluating the design of training
Training Approach
This workshop is uses a combination of trainer input, knowledge sharing with interactive syndicate work and case studies
Group size is kept to a maximum of 15 to facilitate sharing of experience amongst the delegates
