Assessing Suitability - eLearning Module
"You should be aware that we consider Suitability – and the ability to demonstrate it – a key area of risk in this sector and wealth management businesses can expect to see continuing and increasing supervisory focus on these issues in the year ahead."
FSA 'Dear CEO' letter, June 2011
The FSA's recent review of the Wealth Management sector has exposed "significant and widespread failings" in the suitability of client portfolios, resulting in extensive enforcement action and a forceful public warning.
With Suitability under the microscope, it is of critical importance that all investment advisers and discretionary fund managers make sure they are in a position to meet FSA expectations in this area.
CTP’s eLearning module Assessing Suitability makes use of realistic examples, client scenarios, case studies, quizzes and sample Fact Finds to take participants through the Suitability process and highlight the steps required to establish and record the risk profile and investment goals of clients.
At only 45 minutes in duration, Assessing Suitability offers a flexible, accessible and highly time and cost efficient way to make sure your advisers and managers understand how to meet Suitability requirements and can evidence to the regulator they do so.
At the end of the course advisers will be able to clarify and confirm:
- The reason for Assessing Suitability
- What Assessing Suitability means to you
- What the requirements are for Assessing Suitability
- How Suitability is identified and applied
- The importance of asking the right questions and noting the answers
- What Appropriateness means
- How to make recommendations as part of Suitability
- What a Suitability Report is
