Professional Examinations

Very Hot Topic - Higher professional Standards by 2012 for all private client investment managers and advisers

"we have asked the FSSC to consult on increasing the benchmark examination standard to the equivalent of QCF level four, and this will apply equally to new and existing advisers. In other words, there will be no grandfathering. ... We know that this presents a demanding challenge, but if, like me, you read some of the coverage of the recent RDR CP in the national newspapers, you will have seen that the outside world is keen for us to maintain the momentum of the change.

The period 2009-2012 will see thousands of advisers in all sectors, from stockbrokers to bancassurers, taking more challenging examinations that at least meet the QCA Level 4 standards. To explore this topic visit our website at www.rdrtraining.co.uk where you will find:-
  • what exams currently meet this standard
  • who offers them
  • how they compare in terms of study time and approach
We have extensive experience in supporting people to pass first time and we recognise that people need help with different aspects such as learning, revision and practicing examination papers.

We can help people pass the CII Diploma JO papers, the IFS Diploma and the SII PCIAM examination in a number of ways. We work to provide organisations with highly flexible study and revision tuition from experts who are themselves suitably qualified. Do talk to us about your particular needs on 01327 858292.

We offer three different core courses to provide organisations with the intensity of study that they consider will best meet the speed with which they need people to achieve the qualification and the level of personal study they can undertake.

Intensive study programme

This 5 day residential course is ideal for people who feel more comfortable with learning the syllabus by being tutored rather than reading text. It is also appropriate when passing the examination quickly is important. This approach rarely fails to produce a first time pass.
Booster programme

Specifically designed for those who have been unable to devote sufficient time to pre-examination study and who require a boost to both their knowledge and examination technique before sitting the examination. Normally a 3 day event.
Pre examination workshop

This event is designed to provide revision of particularly difficult areas of the syllabus and delegates will need to have studied the examination texts. Attending this event increases the likelihood of a first time pass considerably. Essential for those who have no recent examination experience and require assistance to apply their knowledge effectively in the examination.

Your choice of approach depends upon a number of factors, how many people are to attain the qualification, what balance of home study and tuition is needed, how quickly they must pass and last but not least, cost.

Talk to us about your needs and we will tailor an approach whether you have 2 people or 2,000.

For Professionals in the Compliance and Risk Functions

Many people in these functions have a professional qualification in Law or Accounting. These bring a valuable insight into the interpretation of rules and the audit aspects of monitoring. However, compliance is a difficult role that requires a mix of knowledge and skills.

The  Compliance Institute has recently introduced a new professional qualification supported by Warwick University and the first paper will be April 2009. Follow the link to the CI website for the latest information.
