Outline & Objectives

The Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) subjects senior managers in financial institutions to a more intense and intrusive level of scrutiny than ever before and is a key element of the regulatory drive to improve culture, governance and accountability throughout the industry.

Interpreting and applying aspects of the new regime in practice is not always straightforward matter but the consequences of failing to comply with the enhanced requirements have the potential to be damaging for holders of registered senior management functions (SMFs) and highly disruptive for their organisation.

Accordingly, this focused event is specifically designed to help Senior Managers:

  • Make sure you are fully aware of your regulatory obligations under the new Senior Manager Regime and what this means for your day-to-day activity as a SMF
  • Understand the impact of the regime especially in key areas such as governance, risk management, culture and conduct risk
  • Examine the extent of your obligations relating to the Conduct Rules and your Certification staff
  • Consider how to maintain and demonstrate ongoing competence
  • Highlight and avoid common compliance pitfalls and problem areas
  • Know what to expect from regulatory interviews and visits

Who will benefit?

This event will be of value to individuals falling under the scope of the Senior Manager regime or about to become so. It will also be of interest to those responsible for managing or supporting Senior Managers. This programme is particularly useful ahead of a regulatory visit or as part of the induction for senior managers. (We offer an in-house course dealing specifically with the Senior Insurance Managers Regime: please contact us for further information.)

Training Approach

This course will be delivered via a real time slide sharing and live audio visual platform, accessible by desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Class size will be limited to ensure a high quality and interactive learning experience.
